The ACLC held its monthly Prayer Breakfast at the Dallas Family Center where Rev. Mark Hernandez is the pastor on Saturday, March 20, 2010. The main guest speaker was Rev. James Dawson, pastor of Greater Tried Stone Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas. Pastor Dawson spoke on the topic, “Redefining Worldly Love to God’s Standards.”

Citing 1 John 4:7-8, Pastor Dawson declared that “… over the process of time love has been given a bad name… love is a mere emotional convenience.” He cited many examples from today’s headlines to support his conclusion and then advised, “It is up to the people of God to make visible the characteristics of Godly love.” Thunderous applause rang out when he stated, “Unless you love God, you do not have the capacity to love someone else.”

He said that love is how Christians are identified in the world. “For people of God, love is the uniform by which people know we are children of God.” For examples of Godly love, Pastor Dawson directed the overflow crowd to consult Galatians 5:22 where Paul gives the marks of such love as joy, peace, longsuffering, meekness, and gentleness.

Affirming the message and inspiring words of Pastor Dawson, Sister Jeanette Walker stated that those present constituted the largest attendance at the monthly breakfasts thus far. She noted that many of those present were members of Pastor Dawson’s church who had come out to support him even though they had other competing events to attend. Sister Walker read excerpts from two speeches given by Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon, the organization’s founder. In one speech, given at a 2007 conference in Hawaii, she quoted Dr. Moon as saying, “God’s absolute true love is giving and living for the sake of others. True love gives and forgets it gives.”

Also speaking at the event which was attended by several Muslims, Jews, Christians, and people of other faiths, was Fort Worth Ecumenical Examiner Rev. Dr. Don E. Peavy, Sr. who talked about the Goto case and urged those present to join in the ACLC’s efforts to seek justice for Mr. Goto and others who are being held against their wishes as family members and others try to force them to renounce their religious convictions.

Dr. Deborah Hopes, interim pastor of Church of the Living God, Dallas, Texas, was the mistress of ceremonies. The Dallas Family Center is located at 1922 Anson Road, Dallas, TX 75235.
